Dear family and friends,
This has been a rough week for us and we have done a lot of
introspection. A good thing for all of us from time to time. Sometimes we think we are doing our best, but then we realize that we have lots of room for improvement. As missionaries we are set apart and told to go forth.
"My purpose as a missionary is to invite others to come unto Christ
by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and
His atonement, repentance, baptism receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and
enduring to the end." But no matter how perfect the reason or how
noble the cause we as human beings are not perfect and we mess up all too
often.
Last week I offended a friend whom I love and care about.
This week I offended her even further by writing home about it on the
blog. Of course that was not my intent. I just wanted to share with
my family the ups and downs of missionary work. But even that statement
is offensive because it implies that someone is "work" and that your
love for them is not genuine. I have apologized to her and ask for
forgiveness. I hope she will extend it. Now I apologize to each of
you and ask for your forgiveness. I don't ever want to sound negative or
complaining as I write home about our experiences. We truly love
our mission and we truly love the wonderful people we have met and get to
associate with. It is the greatest thing we could be doing even though we
miss all of you.
Our goal is to represent the Savior as we go about serving here in
Indiana. We are supposed to love as He loved, teach as He taught, serve
as He served. We fall short of that daily, but we pick up and try
harder the next day. It's a perfect goal but I just can't seem to attain it yet
as an imperfect person. For that reason I am so grateful for the
atonement that allows me to repent and move forward.
This will probably be our last blog. There is just to much
room for misunderstanding and offense and we don't want any more of that.
We love and miss each of you. Thanks for your prayers and
support.
E & S Ulrich
